Tech companies are an important source of innovation. While I talk more often about how important communication is in research, the same is true in the area of IT innovation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Recently, I've started working with IT teams and companies to help them showcase the innovation they produce at a fast pace. By helping them \"tame\" their technical articles and better structure their presentations for external events, I've gained a better understanding of just how choked up technical discourse is with jargon. I also noticed that one of the biggest pitfalls in communication is structuring ideas according to a logic that is foreign to an outside audience. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u26a1 The first thing we learned is that no matter how complicated the subject, there\u2019s always a way to communicate it in a more accessible way.
\u26a1The second aspect was that technical jargon acts like scissors. Whenever it\u2019s used, communication is cut off.
\u26a1The third, and maybe the most important thought to take home from this session, was that we should communicate less like we\u2019re talking to ourselves in front of a mirror, and be more aware of the person standing in front of us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
