Under the new Horizon Europe funding line, European projects will require plans for three different dimensions: communication, dissemination and exploitation. They are often used synonymously. So how should each be addressed in the funding proposal?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Communication<\/strong> \u27a1 refers to the strategic promotion of the project and its results, including with the media and the general public, through appropriate communication channels and well thought-out messages (this includes press releases, public events, social media channels, etc.).<\/p>\n\n\n\n Dissemination<\/strong> \u27a1 refers to the effort to make the results known to those communities who can best use them, perhaps even beyond the initial idea of who might use the results (this includes scientific publications and conferences, but also brochures for potential business partners). <\/p>\n\n\n\n Exploitation<\/strong> \u27a1 refers to the use of research results, including through the creation of new products and services (by the participating institutions or others).<\/p>\n\n\n\n However, when you read about Dissemination & Exploitation (D&E) in the projects, know that it also refers to communication strategies with the general public. <\/p>\n\n\n\n I learned all this from a presentation organised by the European Commission: \"A successful proposal for Horizon Europe: Scientific-technical excellence is key, but don't forget the other aspects<\/a>\", which you can see below:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
