But how important is science really for Romanians?<\/p>\n<p>For our country, there are few studies that can be used to analyse the public perception of science. The most recent one was conducted <a href=\"http:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/commfrontoffice\/publicopinion\/flash\/fl_239_en.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">one year after our country's entry into the European Union and measures the attitudes of the young public<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Thus, in Romania, young people's interest in science and technology news is above the European average of 69%, compared to the average of 67%.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_16\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-16\" style=\"width: 601px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-16\" src=\"https:\/\/www.comunicarestiintifica.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/figura-1.png\" alt=\"Interesul tinerilor \u00een \u015ftiin\u0163\u0103 \u015fi tehnologie\" width=\"601\" height=\"205\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.comunicarestiintifica.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/figura-1.png 601w, https:\/\/www.comunicarestiintifica.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/figura-1-300x102.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 601px) 100vw, 601px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-16\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Young people's interest in science and technology<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>As a relevant comparison, young Romanians are at the bottom of the European ranking in terms of interest in news in the news.<\/p>\n<p>Among the favourite subjects of the young Romanian audience we mention:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Inventions and new technologies - 46%, well above the European average<\/li>\n<li>IT technologies - 45%, well above the European average<\/li>\n<li>Medical breakthroughs - above the European average<\/li>\n<li>Environment - above the European average<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Also above the European average is the general perception of science, measured as the proportion of respondents who agree with the statement \"Science brings more benefits than harms. 37% of young Romanians strongly agree with this statement, 45% tend to agree, 10% tend to disagree and finally 6% strongly disagree with this information.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_17\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-17\" style=\"width: 604px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-17 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.comunicarestiintifica.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/figura2.png\" alt=\"\u201c\u015etiin\u0163a aduce mai multe beneficii dec\u00e2t probleme\u201d\" width=\"604\" height=\"287\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.comunicarestiintifica.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/figura2.png 604w, https:\/\/www.comunicarestiintifica.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/figura2-300x143.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 604px) 100vw, 604px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-17\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">\"Science brings more benefits than problems\"<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Another survey question identifies a certain paradox in the Romanian perception of science, but this can be considered a revealing paradox for its true image.
